Investigation Discovery is set to premiere a one-hour special that explores the current state of police affairs and race relations.

Black and Blue follows Emmy Award-winning journalist Tony Harris as he explores the “trust deficit” that exists between police and blacks.

The special comes on the heels of the controversial decisions coming out of St. Paul and Minnesota this week around the deaths of Philando Castile and Sylville Smith — two black men who were shot to death by police in July 2016.

As the tragic shootings by and against police continue to drive headlines, Harris travels the country to reveal how these incidents are impacting African-American families in their homes and communities across the U.S.

Putting himself in the shoes of members of the black community, as well as police officers, Harris doesn’t shy away from difficult questions: Can police training and policy be reformed? Are the wounds inflicted on the black community by policing too great to close? And, what can we learn from the videos appearing on social media about better policing and better preservation?

Black and Blue is produced for Investigation Discovery by NBC News’ Peacock Productions, with Elizabeth Fischer and Knute Walker as executive producers and Sharon Scott as president and general manager. For Investigation Discovery, Lorna Thomas is executive producer, Sara Kozak is SVP of production, Kevin Bennett is general manager, and Henry S. Schleiff is group president of Investigation Discovery, American Heroes Channel & Destination America.

Black and Blue premieres exclusively on ID this Saturday, June 24 at 8/7 C. The special will be available starting Sunday, June 25 on ID’s TV Everywhere app, ID GO.
