Tony Harris is an Emmy, duPont and Peabody Award winning journalist, filmmaker, and host of History Channel’s “The Proof Is Out There”.

The Proof Is Out There investigates the world’s most mysterious videos, photos, and audio recordings, and uses the best technology and experts to render a credible verdict.

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland, Tony began his career at 19 in radio. Two short years later, Tony found his way to television in Cleveland, Ohio. And at 25, he was co-hosting his first television show.

In a diverse broadcast career, Tony has served as New York-based correspondent for Entertainment Tonight and as an international news anchor for Al Jazeera English in Doha, Qatar.

For six years, Tony anchored CNN Newsroom w/Tony Harris where he earned George Foster Peabody Awards for coverage of the British petroleum oil spill and Hurricane Katrina. He also earned an Alfred I. duPont Award for coverage of the Southeast Asia tsunami.

For Discovery ID (ID Channel), he hosted and reported a number of series, limited series and specials, including the 2020 Discovery ID special The Murder of George Floyd; two seasons as host of Discovery ID’s Scene of the Crime w/Tony Harris; the Discovery ID limited series “Hate In America”, and “Behind Closed Door”, Tony’s exploration of domestic violence in America. In 2014, Tony narrated the Discovery Channel documentary “9/11 Rescue Cops.”

In 2020, Merge Media Group turned its attention to podcasting when Tony reported and hosted the iHeart and Tenderfoot TV true crime podcast Monster: DC Sniper.

Tony has appeared in a number of films, including Chris Rock’s Head of State and Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail. He’s also provided voice over for Tyler Perry’s House of Payne.

Alongside his partner, Sam Hensley, Jr. Tony oversees all creative content and business partnerships here in the U.S. and around the world.
